Distance: 150-180 km (via NH2 or Yamuna Expressway).
Time: 3-4 hours, depending on the traffic and route.
Best Route: Via Yamuna Expressway: This is the most popular and fastest route from Delhi to Vrindavan. The Yamuna Expressway offers a smooth drive, and it’s a toll road, but well-maintained.
Via Mathura Road (NH2): This route takes a little longer but passes through some scenic countryside.
Travel Tip: Start early in the morning to avoid traffic, especially on weekends or during festivals when Vrindavan sees a large influx of devotees.
1. Banke Bihari Temple:
One of the most famous and revered temples in Vrindavan dedicated to Lord Krishna. The temple attracts thousands of devotees, especially during festivals like Holi and Janmashtami.
Timings: 6:30 AM - 12:00 PM, 4:30 PM - 9:00 PM.
The temple is known for its unique rituals and the enchanting prayers (aartis) that happen during the evening.
2. Prem Mandir:
A relatively new temple built with intricate carvings and beautiful marble work. The temple is dedicated to Radha-Krishna and features stunning light and sound shows in the evening.
Timings: 4:30 AM - 8:30 PM.
Entry: Free, but donations are welcome.
3. ISKCON Vrindavan (Sri Sri Krishna Balaram Mandir):
A prominent temple dedicated to Lord Krishna and Balarama, built by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). The temple has a vibrant and peaceful atmosphere with devotional activities and bhajans.
Timings: 4:30 AM - 8:30 PM.
4. Yamuna River Ghats:
Vrindavan is famous for its Yamuna river ghats, where pilgrims gather to take holy dips and offer prayers. Some of the famous ghats include Vishram Ghat, Kesi Ghat, and Radhakund.
Best Time to Visit: Early morning or sunset, when the atmosphere is peaceful and spiritual.
5. Radha Kund & Shyama Kund:
These two sacred ponds are believed to be the holiest spots in Vrindavan. They are associated with the legends of Radha and Krishna and are revered by pilgrims.
6. Brij Ki Haveli:
This place is known for its cultural exhibitions and the famous Raas Leela performances, which depict the divine love story of Radha and Krishna.
7. Nidhivan:
A sacred grove where, according to legend, Lord Krishna still performs his nightly Raas Leela with his devotees. It’s a quiet, mystical spot for reflection and meditation.
Note: It is said that no one should spend the night in Nidhivan, as the place is considered sacred and mysterious.
